​การวิจัยในครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อศึกษาศิลปวัฒนธรรม ประเพณีท้องถิ่นของชุมชน และพฤติกรรมการตอบสนองของชุมชนที่มีต่องานศิลปะที่ใช้เป็นเครื่องมือในการอนุรักษ์ศิลปวัฒนธรรม ประเพณีท้องถิ่น ถ่ายทอดองค์ความรู้ด้านศิลปะด้วยกระบวนการและการมีส่วนร่วมกับชุมชน ในการเผยแพร่ผลงานจิตรกรรมฝาผนังและการทำกิจกรรมศิลปะของชุมชนรอบพื้นที่ กฟผ.แม่เมาะ ให้สาธารณะชนได้ทราบถึงการสนับสนุนของ กฟผ.แม่เมาะ
​จากผลการวิจัยพบว่าผู้ตอบแบบสอบถามส่วนใหญ่ต้องการที่จะอนุรักษ์ศิลปะของชุมชนไว้ให้ลูกหลานสืบทอดและต้องการมีภาพวาดจิตรกรรมฝาผนังเกิดขึ้นในภายในชุมชนเป็นภาพประเพณีและวัฒนธรรมท้องถิ่นและ ภาพวิถีชีวิตและตำนานเรื่องเล่าสืบทอดภาพชนเผ่า/ชุมชน ภาพวาดพุทธประวัติ โดยการศึกษาในครั้งนี้จะมีตัวแปรที่ศึกษา 4 ตัวแปร คือ ตัวแปรแรกตัวแปรบุคลิกภาพ ผลจากการเก็บแบบสอบถามพบว่า ก่อนการเข้าร่วมกิจกรรมผู้ตอบแบบสอบถามส่วนใหญ่มีบุคลิกภาพแบบมีอารมณ์ไม่มั่นคงแต่หลังจากการเข้าร่วมกิจกรรมผู้ตอบแบบสอบถามส่วนใหญ่มีบุคลิกภาพแบบอ่อนโยน ตัวแปรที่สองตัวแปรการมีอุดมการณ์หลังจากการจัดกิจกรรมในครั้งนี้ทำให้ผู้เข้าร่วมกิจกรรมมีอุดมการณ์ที่เพิ่มมากขึ้น ตัวแปรที่สามตัวแปรแรงจูงใจในการลิขิตตนเองหลังจากการจัดกิจกรรมในครั้งนี้ทำให้ผู้เข้าร่วมกิจกรรมมีแรงจูงใจในการลิขิตตนเองมากขึ้น และสามารถตัดสินใจได้ด้วยตนเอง ตัวแปรสุดท้ายตัวแปรแรงบันดาลใจหลังจากการจัดกิจกรรมในครั้งนี้ทำให้ผู้เข้าร่วมกิจกรรมมีแรงบันดาลใจที่เพิ่มมากขึ้น จากผลการศึกษาการวิจัยจึงสามารถสรุปผลได้ว่าภาพวาดจิตรกรรมฝาผนังประวัติศาสตร์แม่เมาะสามารถเปลี่ยนแปลงพฤติกรรมของชุมชนด้วยการทำงานแบบมีส่วนร่วมทางด้านศิลปะส่งผลให้เกิดความรู้สึกในเชิงบวกที่มีต่อ กฟผ.แม่เมาะ มากขึ้น จากโครงการวิจัยที่เกิดขึ้นนี้ชุมชนได้แสดงเจตนารมณ์อย่างชัดเจนเพื่อสานต่อความรู้ที่ได้รับเพื่อนำไปพัฒนาชุมชนของตนเองต่อไปอย่างยั่งยืน

Project name: A Study on the Response of Communities to the use of Mural Painting to Conserve and Develop Art and Culture - Local Communities around Mae Moh Power Plant case study

The aim of this research is to study traditional art and culture of the local community and response of the community to the art work that was used as an artistic and cultural conservation tool.  Artistic knowledge and local traditions were passed on through art making process and the involvement of community members. The mural art campaign and the involvement of the local communities around Mae Moh Power Plant increase public awareness of the support from the EGAT to local communities.

The research showed, from the result of the questionnaire, that most people wanted to conserve their artistic culture for their posterities and are in favor of having a mural painting in their communities to portray local traditions, culture, way of life, folk lores, tribal images of their members and the life of Buddha. 

The study was measured on four variables. The first one being the character of an individual. The questionnaire results show that before the activity most participants were feeling restless but after the activity they were feeling more gentle. The second one is the ideology. It was found that the activity gave the participants an ideology. The third variable is the self motivation. After the activity, participants are more self motivated and are more decisive in their actions. The last variable is the inspiration. The activity gave more inspiration to the life of  the participants.
It could be said, from this research, that the mural painting of Mae Moh history has an impact on the behaviour of the community members. Their hands on involvement in a community art project resulted in a more positive view of Mae Moh Power Plant.  After finishing the project the community clearly showed the determination to use their knowledge to further develop their community in a sustainable way.
